Ellen Burt, former TILT trustee, died February 16, 2006. Ellen was born in Ogdensburg and spent nearly every summer of her life on Choke Cherry Island in Chippewa Bay. She and her husband Stuart lived in Guilford, CT and raised three children, all of whom maintain strong ties with the Thousand Islands.

Ellen was elected to the TILT board in 1996 and served for four years. She was a loyal and generous supporter of TILT. Her commitment to the North Country and the St. Lawrence River, was lifelong and her service to the communities in which she lived was enormous.
