Rett Foster
Everett G. Foster died Saturday February 20, 2010. Rett was a trustee of the land trust for 15 years, during which he served as treasurer and chaired the Decade & Beyond capital campaign, to create an endowment and support stewardship.
Rett’s record of service to the northern New York community is extraordinary; he served on countless boards and donated his time and expertise to inumerable causes. We will miss him for that.
However, far more than his ability to raise funds or read a financial statement, we will miss his presence. Rett “showed up” and filled the room with his enthusiasm and great good humor. He jumped into the task at hand, with both feet and a “no holds barred” attitude, whether it was a walk in the woods or a committee meeting. He was generous with his spirit as well as his time.
“We will all think of Rett for many years to come as he has left us his great sense of humour, his love of the River and most of all his deep respect for the community,” said Susie Smith, TILT Trustee.
Contributions may be made in Rett’s memory to the Samaritan Foundation, 830 Washington St., Watertown, NY 13601 or to the Northern New York Community Foundation, 120 Washington Street, Suite 400, Watertown, NY 13601. The Foster family has established a River Fund at the NNY Community Foundation to support non-profits in the region.
