TILT invites you to Ski at Zenda Farm

The LoisJean and John MacFarlane Trail at Zenda Farm Preserve is open for cross-country skiing. The Thousand Islands Land Trust has packed a cross country ski trail along the route of the 1.5 mile loop that is in development at Zenda Farm. The trail circles the hayfields at the farm, providing vistas from which to see the Village of Clayton and the sweep of grasslands and running along the forest edge at the north edge of the preserve.

Funded by a grant from NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the trail will be completed in 2010 and a formal dedication will take place in early summer. The trail will be a four-season, non-motorized trail that is open to the public for hiking and skiing. The accessible trail will have a gravel surface, and benches will be provided at intervals for visitors to rest and take in the scenery or watch the numerous grassland birds that nest in the meadows through the summer.

Zenda Farm Preserve is located on the western edge of Clayton’s village, on Rt. 12E.

TILT is sponsoring several wintertime activities this year, including hayrides, snowshoe walks and eagle watches. For more information about these events, skiing at Zenda or the work of the land trust, please contact TILT at 315-686-5345 or info@tilandtrust.org.
