It’s that time of year again! Kick off the summer with family and friends at the Thousand Island Land Trust’s Community Picnic at Zenda Farm. The annual picnic will take place on Friday, June 11th, from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Zenda Farm Preserve. Everyone is encouraged to come and celebrate the start of summer with food, music, games, and interesting displays from many of TILT’s conservation partners.
Adults, children, and families are invited to come out and enjoy the evening. The grill will be cooking up burgers and hotdogs, and there will be a variety of sides, salads, and desserts as well. Food will be served promptly at 5:30 pm by the TILT Trustees. The Rivergrass Band will entertain the crowd with live music, and there are field games and activities planned for the kids. The very popular “water balloon toss” is back again this year!
Many conservation partners will be attending, including Gerry Smith, representatives from the Thousand Islands Biological Station, the New York State Zoo at Thompson Park, and three other northern New York land trusts: Tug Hill Tomorrow, Indian River Lakes Conservancy, and Ontario Bays Initiative. Each of the organizations attending the picnic will have an information table set up, wildlife displays, and people available to answer any questions you may have.
Tickets cost $10 per person, and children 12 and under are free. The registration deadline is June 7th and please reserve early as tickets sell quickly! To RSVP, or for further information, contact TILT at 686-5345 or events@tiltandtrust.org.
The Thousand Islands Land Trust also hosts TILTreks & Talks encouraging living, learning and conserving in the Thousand Islands. TILT will be offering bike and kayak Treks, KidsTreks, and more events this summer. A full schedule will be printed in the TI Sun and available on TILT's website. For more information or a complete schedule of events, contact TILT at 686-5345 or visit www.tilandtrust.org.
