TILT Announces New 2010 Trustees

Elaine Vedette Tack, from Rochester and Clayton, joins the board this year. The daughter of Dan and the late Martha Tack, Elaine is familiar to many TILT friends as the leader of our Bike Treks. “My mother and Sissy Danforth introduced me to TILT through Sissy’s bike treks,” says Elaine. “I try to bike everywhere. Why drive when you can bike?” she says.

Elaine spent 15 years in broadcast journalism, reporting and anchoring the news, first with CNN, then with NBC, ABC and CBS stations in Las Vegas, Cleveland and Chicago. She travels extensively and devotes her time to charity work.

Elaine is enthusiastic about joining the TILT board. “As a river community, we are lucky to have this land trust working to create walking and biking trails for everyone to enjoy. What adds value to the region, over the long run is preserving what is natural, that is what will attract future generations.”

Robin E. Hoffman, Ph.D., is a Professor with the Department of Landscape Architecture at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (Syracuse, NY).  Her teaching is focused on site engineering, design and professional practice. Prior to teaching, Robin practiced landscape architecture in New York City and Syracuse, NY.  Her project work included parks and recreation, urban revitalization and storm water management.

As a member of the TILT board, Robin envisions her contributions to include guidance in long term planning and management for TILT preserves and outreach and educational programs. She knows TILT well as she was married to former director, Aaron Vogel.

Robin’s, and her best friend, Moose’s, love for the 1000 Islands region grows stronger each year that they spend time swimming, paddling, and gardening with friends and family on the River.
