Water "Hikes"

What about a water trail?

Crooked Creek at the western end of Chippewa Bay is in a 1280 acre preserve that has been designated a Class 1 wetlands. The creek is an important tributary to the St. Lawrence because it provides valuable spawning grounds, wildlife habitats and natural controls for water levels and quality. It meanders for miles inland and is a great place to paddle.

French Creek is another important wetlands complex in Clayton. It empties into French Bay on the western side of the village and winds back through beautiful farmland. Take your canoe or rent a kayak in Clayton.
