DESCRIPTION:Friday\, June 13th\, 5:30-7:30pm: Zenda Community Picnic & Volunteer Recognition at Zenda Farms Preserve $20 general admission (Kids under 12 are $5\, TILT Volunteers are free) \nBring your family and friends to celebrate 40 years of conservation at the Thousand Islands Land Trust’s (TILT) annual Community Picnic! This kickoff to summer honors open space\, volunteerism and community spirit. This year’s event promises even more excitement as we commemorate TILT’s 40th anniversary! Enjoy fascinating and fun exhibits from TILT’s conservation and community partners\, showcasing environmental\, cultural and community organizations from across the Thousand Islands region. Take a stroll down memory lane with our timeless antique tractor display\, relive the joys of childhood with games\, activities\, a petting zoo\, and pony rides\, and let live music set the perfect summertime vibe. New this year we are taking a splash with a dunk tank to help raise funds for conservation! Who will take the plunge? You’ll have to join us to find out! Classic picnic fare will include hotdogs\, hamburgers\, salads\, and desserts and ice-cold drinks will be served to wash it all down. Enjoy all this event has to offer and join us in recognizing and thanking our incredible volunteers who make TILT’s work possible. By volunteering with TILT\, you can help steward the land to ensure a better quality of life and safeguard the place we proudly call home. Be sure to wear your trusty work attire and remember to bring gloves and tools if you have them. Your efforts will not only benefit our local environment but will also support critical research and conservation initiatives across the Great Lakes region through the Alliance for the Great Lakes Adopt-a-Beach program. This event is all about embracing your creativity while connecting with nature. We will guide you through the steps of creating your pinch pot—from shaping the clay to adding texture or designs with natural materials. After we finish our pots\, we will discuss the naturally-occurring clay in the Thousand Islands region\, and how it impacts the ecosystem! \nRegistration for this trek is now full! In twelve years\, volunteers have helped to plant more than 850 trees at our Preserves and throughout the community. This year\, we’re excited to join forces with local municipalities to plant even more trees\, creating greener spaces\, enhancing habitats\, and contributing to a healthier environment for generations to come.
