The Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) and the Northern New York Community Foundation are continuing to grow the Birds Rise Above It All Endowment Fund, created to honor the life and legacy of beloved local birding expert and conservation advocate Sherri Smith.
This fund helps protect bird habitats, support conservation, and bring hands-on education across the Thousand Islands and greater St. Lawrence River Valley—a hotspot in the Atlantic Flyway and Algonquin to Adirondacks wildlife corridor. Thanks to this effort, TILT will enhance bird habitat across more than 15,000 acres of conserved land while expanding bird-focused learning and citizen science programs for all ages.
Thanks to a generous donation from Environment for the Americas, TILT now has a pair of Diamondback binoculars—perfect for spotting our feathered friends! Anyone who gives to the Birds Rise Above It All Endowment will have their name entered in a drawing to win them later this season.
