Internships
Internships with the Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) are designed to introduce college students to the work of land conservation and environmental education in the Thousand Islands region. Each summer, TILT offers multiple paid internship positions, which are a great way for students to gain experience and contribute to their community.
Internship opportunities are generally posted in January of each year, with applications due by mid-March.

Summer Land Stewards (SLS)
Summer Land Stewards (SLS) of the Thousand Islands Land Trust are hired each summer to provide essential support to Stewardship Staff
Good conservation of lands requires good stewardship, or the active management of the land to ensure its health and vitality for the future. The Thousand Islands Land Trust has a Stewardship team, who work year round to care for TILT’s Preserves, as well as monitor TILT’s Conservation Easement lands. Stewardship activities include trail clearing and marking, grasslands management and restoration, combating invasive species, enhancing wildlife and bird habitats, and ensuring compliance with Conservation Easement terms.
With over 14,000 acres to care for, TILT can’t be everywhere at once. That’s why we rely on our dedicated Stewardship Volunteers to help maintain trails across the region. These volunteers make sure trails are always open and accessible to the public. They also keep an eye out for invasive species, monitor the health of our Preserves and participate in larger amenity projects.
You too can help steward your favorite preserve & trail! Check out our upcoming volunteer opportunities and sign up today!
