The Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) recently welcomed students from Guardino Elementary School to its new Discovery Center: The Gateway to the Outdoors, an interactive conservation learning center located at TILT’s office at 135 John Street in Clayton. Through hands- on exhibits and interactive displays, the Discovery Center introduces visitors to the wildlife, habitats, and conservation efforts that help protect the Thousand Islands region. right in the organization’s 135 John Street office.

During their visit, students explored hands-on exhibits featuring many of the plants and animals that call the Thousand Islands home. Through interactive displays and real-world examples, they gained a deeper understanding of local wildlife, habitats and the importance of protecting the natural places that make this region unique.

Conservation education plays a vital role in inspiring the future generation of environmental stewards. By providing opportunities to learn outside of a traditional classroom setting, the Center helps students connect with nature in meaningful and memorable ways. Students are left with a meaningful, lasting sentiment: conservation matters.
