The Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) welcomed more than 100 community members on Thursday, June 18 to celebrate the grand opening of the TILT Discovery Center: The Gateway to the Outdoors, a new educational and community space located at 135 John Street in Clayton.
Designed to connect people of all ages with the natural world, the Discovery Center serves as a gateway to the region’s remarkable landscapes, wildlife, and conservation efforts. Visitors can learn about local habitats, conservation initiatives, and the many ways TILT works to protect the lands and waters of the Thousand Islands before getting outside on the land.
“The Discovery Center represents an exciting new chapter for TILT and our community,” said Terra Bach, TILT’s Director of Development and Communications. “We envisioned a welcoming space where residents and visitors alike can learn about conservation, discover the natural treasures of our region, and be inspired to explore the outdoors.”
Throughout the evening, guests explored interactive displays, educational exhibits, and resources highlighting TILT’s Preserves, stewardship work, wildlife conservation efforts, and community programs. The Center is designed to serve as a hub for environmental education, providing year-round opportunities for learning, engagement, and connection to nature.
The TILT Discovery Center is now open to the public at 135 John Street in Clayton on Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm during the summer season . Visitors are encouraged to stop in, explore the exhibits, and learn more about conservation efforts throughout the Thousand Islands.
