Stewardship & Land Management

Effective conservation goes hand in hand with proactive stewardship–actively managing land to ensure its long-term health and vitality.

TILT’s dedicated Stewardship Team works year-round to care for over 14,000 acres of land which includes monitoring conservation easements.

Their efforts include clearing and marking trails, mowing grasslands, managing invasive species, and enhancing habitats for wildlife and birds.

But TILT can’t do it alone! Our volunteers play an important role in keeping trails open, monitoring for invasive species, and supporting the health of the preserves. Want to help care for your favorite trail? Get involved today!

Land Management Projects

Controlling Pale
Swallow-wort

Invasive species like Pale Swallow-wort can have a profoundly detrimental impact on some habitats.

Management for
Grassland Birds

Grasslands are among the most threatened habitats in the Northeast. Managing grasslands is essential for the survival of some neotropical, migratory songbird species.

Shrubland Species Management Golden-winged Warbler

The St. Lawrence Valley Partnership for Golden-winged Warblers is working to improve habitat for and provide education about this declining species.
