The Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) is proud to announce that it has successfully achieved its third accreditation renewal through the Land Trust Alliance, a distinction that recognizes land trusts meeting the highest national standards for land conservation.

Accreditation is awarded through a rigorous review process that evaluates a land trust’s policies, practices, and long-term stewardship commitments. Organizations that earn this recognition demonstrate excellence in governance, financial management, and the permanent protection of natural and working lands.

“This achievement reflects our ongoing commitment to conservation that is thoughtful, accountable, and built to last,” said Jake Tibbles, TILT’s Executive Director. “Accreditation reinforces that the lands we protect today will remain protected for future generations.”

TILT is one of a select group of land trusts nationwide to achieve accreditation renewal multiple times. This third renewal underscores the organization’s dedication to continuous improvement and adherence to best practices in land conservation.

Accreditation is especially significant because it ensures that conserved lands are protected in perpetuity. By meeting these high standards, the Land Trust provides assurance to landowners, supporters, and the broader community that conservation efforts are legally sound, ethically grounded, and designed for lasting impact.

As land conservation grows increasingly important in the face of environmental challenges, accredited land trusts play a critical role in safeguarding clean water, wildlife habitat, and resilient landscapes for generations to come.
