TILT and STR Team Up for Blind Bay Shoreline Cleanup

Staff members from the Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) and Save The River (STR) joined forces on Tuesday morning, May 20, for a shoreline cleanup of Blind Bay in Clayton NY—an ecologically sensitive and critical area along the St. Lawrence River.

Blind Bay provides vital habitat for a wide range of species, including waterfowl, migratory birds, and the iconic muskellunge. The Bay’s shoreline and wetlands act as a natural nursery for wildlife and serve as essential filters that protect water quality throughout the River ecosystem.

“Blind Bay is one of the few remaining undisturbed shoreline habitats on this stretch of the River; it’s worth protecting and maintaining,” said Bridget Wright, Executive Director of STR. Jake Tibbles, Executive Director of TILT, added “Collaborative efforts like this cleanup show what’s possible when we come together to care for the places that matter.”

The cleanup is part of broader, ongoing efforts to safeguard Blind Bay from development threats and preserve its ecological integrity for future generations
