TILT Applies for Accreditation Renewal

The Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT), is proud to announce that they will be applying for renewal of accreditation this spring, marking nearly 17 years as an accredited land trust. Accreditation is a mark of distinction, recognizing land conservation organizations that meet the highest national quality standards for protecting natural places and working lands forever.

The accreditation process is overseen by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance. As part of this process, the Commission conducts a comprehensive review of each applicant’s polices, programs, and practices.

“Our accreditation renewal demonstrates TILT’s commitment to excellence, transparency, and the lasting protection of the lands we all love,” said Spencer Busler, Assistant Director of TILT. “Renewing reinforces our promise to protect these conserved places for generations to come.”

As part of the renewal process, the Commission is now accepting public comments. Community members are invited to submit signed, written comments that speak to how TILT complies with national quality standards. These standards reflect the ethical and technical best practices of a professional land trust. For the full list of standards see http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices.
