TILT Unveils New Discovery Center: The Gateway to the Outdoors

The Thousand Islands Land Trust (TILT) is thrilled to announce the opening of its new Discovery Center: The Gateway to the Outdoors, located at TILT’s main office at 135 John Street in Clayton, NY. The Discovery Center offers a fresh, interactive way for visitors to explore the region’s lands, waters, and wildlife—and to discover how conservation connects us all.

The Center features hands-on exhibits, touchscreen displays, and multimedia storytelling that highlight TILT’s Preserves, projects, and partnerships across the Thousand Islands region and Algonquin to Adirondacks (A2A) corridor. Visitors can learn about local wildlife, water quality, climate resilience, invasive species, and the vital role of land stewardship in protecting the Thousand Islands’ natural beauty.

“The Discovery Center is truly a gateway to the outdoors,” said Terra Bach, TILT’s Director of Development and Communications. “It’s a space designed to spark curiosity, inspire learning, and deepen people’s connection to this extraordinary region.”

The new Center was unveiled Thursday evening during a Business with a Twist event hosted in partnership with the Clayton Chamber of Commerce. The celebration drew a lively crowd of local business owners, community members, and supporters eager to explore the new space and share in the excitement of this major milestone for TILT.

Open year-round, the TILT Discovery Center will serve as both an educational hub and a community gathering space, welcoming school groups, visitors, and organizations interested in learning more about local conservation.
