Garrett joined TILT in April 2026 as the new Conservation Lands Manager. He will play a central role in the stewardship and management of TILT’s conservation easements and fee-owned properties throughout the Thousand Islands region.
Originally from Strongsville, Ohio, Garrett brings a strong academic background and handson experience to the role. He holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Management with an emphasis in Integrative and Public Land Management from Western Colorado University, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Mount Union.
Garrett’s career has been shaped by a lifelong passion for birds and their habitats. Before joining TILT, he worked with the United States Forest Service as a Forestry Field Specialist in the Gunnison Ranger District and as a Wildlife Technician for the National Park Service at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and Curecanti National Recreation Area. There, he monitored raptors including Peregrine Falcons, Golden Eagles, Bald Eagles, and Osprey.
“We’re thrilled to have Garrett on the team,” said Jake Tibbles, Executive Director. “His expertise in land management and wildlife conservation, combined with his passion for protecting natural habitats, makes him a perfect fit for our mission. Garrett will help us ensure these lands continue to provide safe homes for wildlife and enjoyable experiences for our community, today and for generations to come.”
When he’s not in the field, he enjoys hiking, birdwatching, kayaking, whitewater rafting, camping, wildlife and landscape photography, and spending time outdoors with friends and family. Garrett was drawn to the Land Trust because of its commitment to conserving the region’s natural areas while fostering community engagement—an approach that aligns closely with his own values.
